The traditional event Homeland Fair was held on Sunday, 12 February in Novi Sad. The event was organized for the fourth time by the Fund for Refugees, Displaced Persons and Cooperation with Serbs in the Region, and saw participation of about 120 exhibitors and more than 25 cultural and artistic societies from Serbia and countries of the region.

Numerous homeland associations, institutions and different organizations from Vojvodina and Belgrade, from Kosovo and Metohija and from Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia and Hungary presented the economy, tourism potential and cultural heritage of their regions. The presentations covered old crafts and gastronomic offer, folk costumes, musical instruments and various handicrafts, and folklore heritage from practically all parts of Serbia and countries of the region.

The cultural and artistic program was presented by children and youth, whose obligation remains to preserve the tradition and cultural heritage of the Serbian people and to pass it on to the next generations.

The Provincial Secretary for Regional Development, Interregional Cooperation and Local Self-Government, Aleksandar Sofić, opened officially this year’s Homeland Fair. The event was held under the auspices of the competent Secretariat and the Provincial Government, which are undoubtedly the most responsible for the Homeland Fair becoming traditional and growing into an important regional gathering.

As the Director of the Fund for Refugees, Displaced Persons and Cooperation with Serbs in the Region, Aleksandar Đedovac, pointed out, the Homeland Fair is an assembly that enables the organizations and individuals working on nurturing traditions, promoting economic potential and preserving the cultural heritage of their homeland to meet, connect and associate.

This year’s Homeland Fair saw a record number of visitors. Several thousand people visited the stands and followed the cultural and artistic program in the Master Center of the Novi Sad Fair.
