Đorđe Milićević, the Serbian Government Minister in charge of diaspora relations, attended the celebration of the Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom, and the National Flag in Berane and said that unity must not remain merely a message but must be reflected in mutual support, connection, and care.

– Let our tricolor remind us not only of what we have inherited but also of what it is our duty to leave to our children – a people who know who they are, cherish their freedom, care for their own, and know that unity is one of their greatest strengths – said Milićević.

He stated that Serbia wished for Serbs in Montenegro to be successful, respected, and equal citizens of the country where they live, while also freely and proudly preserving their national identity.

Milićević said that Serbia respected all neighboring states and wished them stability, progress, and success, yet it was natural for it to watch the status of the Serbian people with special attention and stand by them at the same time.

Speaking about the preservation of national identity, Milićević noted in particular the role of the Serbian Orthodox Church, which had preserved not only the faith but also the Serbian language, name, culture, historical memory, and sense of belonging throughout the centuries, reads a statement from Minister Milićević’s office.
