Zlatan Klokić, the Minister of European Integration and International Cooperation of the Republic of Srpska, stated in Stuttgart, Germany, at the celebration of the Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom and the National Flag, that Serbs living abroad served as the Republic of Srpska’s bridge to the world and that it was essential for them to preserve their identity, language, and traditions.

– Pass it all on to future generations and do not allow it to be forgotten – Klokić said addressing the gathering at the Forum am Schlosspark congress center in Stuttgart.

He noted that Serbs abroad were proven patriots who demonstrated daily their love for their roots, traditions, and customs.

– Thank you for that. That love is particularly visible today and I felt it the moment I entered this room. Therefore, the Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom and the National Flag that we celebrate today is not, and should not be, merely a holiday. It is a crown and a reminder of who we are, where we come from, and what connects us, no matter where we live. Thank you for preserving our name, flag, and traditions in this way, far from the homeland – Klokić said in his address.

He stated that this was especially important when discussing the values of freedom, as well as the sacrifices made and the price the Serbian people had paid to preserve their name, their land, and their right to live on their own soil.

– That is why it is important for us to stand together; happy Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom and the National Flag to all of us. May both Serbia and Srpska live forever – stated Klokić at the ceremony, which was attended by Serbian officials and many Serbs living and working in Germany.

The Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom and the National Flag is a state holiday celebrated on 15 September in Serbia and the Republic of Srpska established symbolically to mark the anniversary of the breakthrough of the Thessaloniki Front.
