The Memorial Center of the Republic of Srpska’s international multimedia campaign Learn About Serbian Suffering continued in Vienna. The Serbian historical experience is presented through digital content in German, in the immediate vicinity of the Vienna State Opera.

Members of the large Serbian community, as well as tourists and visitors from different parts of Europe and the world, can see content dedicated to Serbian suffering in the twentieth century. Different periods of suffering of the Serbian people are shown: from the First and Second World Wars, through the Genocide of Serbs in the Independent State of Croatia (1941-1945) and the suffering of Serbian children in camps, to the suffering of Serb civilians during the 1990s wars, all in order to make this part of history accessible to an audience that has not had the opportunity to learn more about it until now.

The Director of the Memorial Center of the Republic of Srpska, Denis Bojić, says that the purpose of the campaign is to make Serbian victims visible and preserved in European and world memory. – Today we are in Vienna, in the very heart of Europe, and the next stop is Rome. This is a continuation of the same mission, to make Serbian victims visible, named and preserved in European and world memory – said Bojić. – We are not asking for special treatment. We demand the right for our story to be heard, just as every nation has the right to speak about its victims – said Bojić.

Campaign holding in Vienna is supported by the Ministry of European Integration and International Cooperation of the Republic of Srpska and the Representative Office of the Republic of Srpska in Austria, as part of the effort to raise the issue of the culture of memory and Serbian historical experience beyond the former Yugoslavia.
