The event Days of Srpska in Serbia, where Srpska presents its culture, science, art and economy, will be held from 16 to 25 September in 14 cities across Serbia under the slogan Inspired by freedom, guided by unity, announced the organizers. The Minister of European Integration and International Cooperation of the Republic of Srpska, Zlatan Klokić, and the Head of the Republic of Srpska Representative Office in Serbia, Mlađen Cicović presented today the program of the fourteenth consecutive edition of the event at the Republic of Srpska Representation in Belgrade.

The event will open officially on 16 September at the Belgrade National Theater, and close on 25 September at the Niš National Theater. A total of 16 programs will be held, and host cities will receive delegations consisting of representatives of the Republic of Srpska Government, municipalities and cities from Srpska and the Representation.

Klokić said that the event aimed to best use these nine days to present and bring closer the Republic of Srpska to the citizens of Serbia, from Sombor, Subotica to Niš and Vranje. – I believe we will contribute further to strengthening the ties between Serbia and the Republic of Srpska and present Srpska in the best possible way – Klokić said, adding that the slogan itself called for unity, which was needed in challenging times, as were nowadays. He said that he expected a large turnout again this year, and thanked Cicović and the Representation, who had been presenting the Republic of Srpska in Serbia in the best possible way all these years.

Cicović said that this event had become one of the most significant and recognizable ways of presenting the Republic of Srpska in Serbia. – Days of Srpska in Serbia is not only a cultural event, but an opportunity to present the best that the Republic of Srpska has in culture, art, science and economy to Serbian citizens and also to show how much our spaces, our institutions and our people are oriented towards each other – Cicović stated. He says that this event is a space for strengthening cooperation between the Republic of Srpska and Serbia, for connection and cooperation among institutions, artists, scientists, businessmen, local communities and all those able to contribute to even stronger ties. Cicović says that the slogan Inspired by freedom, guided by unity carries two important messages – that freedom is one of the greatest values of the Serbian people, and for Serbs in Srpska, this is the Republic of Srpska, and unity recalls the importance of togetherness and mutual support between Srpska and Serbia and the people on both sides of the Drina River. Cicović also highlighted economic meetings within the program, as the main goal is to twin as many cities and municipalities as possible.

– Days of Srpska in Serbia contribute to understanding, because no matter where the Serbian people live and no matter what administrative borders exist, there is a space that connects us, and that is our common linguistic, cultural and spiritual space – said Cicović. He noted that administrative borders should not be an obstacle to cooperation, but rather that where possible, bridges should be built and a space created for Srpska and Serbia to work together on preserving their identity and cultural values.
