Serbs from the Republic of Srpska and Serbia are not each other’s diaspora, nor are they separated by the Drina, said the minister without portfolio in the Government of Serbia in charge of relations with the diaspora, Đorđe Milićević, and pointed to the parallel pressure on the Serbian people.

– We are not each other’s diaspora, the Drina has never been something that separates us, but a backbone that unites us – said Milićević and recalled that he had recently met with the President of Srpska Milorad Dodik and the Minister of European Integration and International Cooperation, Zlatan Klokić, in the Republic of Srpska.

He stated that he had spoken with Klokić about strengthening the bond between Serbia and Srpska, the bond between compatriots and their motherland.

– Back in 2013, a memorandum was signed creating a Srpska-Serbia cooperation mechanism in achieving that goal. I hope we will renew that memorandum in a relatively short period – said Milićević.

Drawing a parallel between Srpska and Serbia and the pressure of the international community towards them, he said that in the Republic of Srpska, i.e. in BiH, there was ‘an envoy Schmidt’ trying to appropriate state property, in fact to make it the property of BiH and make his decision have legislative strength.

Milićević noted that Dodik advocated respect for the Dayton Agreement and the original Dayton, not a modified one.

He pointed out that this was a matter of good neighborly relations and that Serbia and its president Aleksandar Vučić were extending a hand to everyone in the region and wanted to strengthen regional cooperation.
