More than 300 children and their parents were present in the Vienna Albert Hall to celebrate the end of another school year of the Prosvjeta Serbian Language School in this year’s calendar of the Serbian community in Austria.

The program began with the performance of the anthem of the Republic of Serbia. The President of the SECS Prosvjeta Austria, Marko Sarić, said that nowadays this organization brought together about 40 schools throughout Austria and represented one of the most important pillars supporting the preservation of the language, culture and national identity of the Serbian diaspora.

Prosvjeta’s Little Choir, led by Maša Matić and Aleksandra Ilić, opened the cultural and artistic part of the program, followed by reciters, singers, young actors and choirs – all from the Vienna classes of Prosvjeta School. Through song, dance and verses, the children showed the audience their progress during the year in learning the Serbian language, history and tradition.

Students who had successfully completed the school year were awarded diplomas – a small but precious sign of recognition for the effort invested in preserving their native language and script far from their homeland.

The program was completed with a joint performance of the song Za milion godina, with which all those present – children, parents and teachers – sent a symbolic message of friendship, unity and hope, while announcing continuation of the gathering from September.
