The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, hosted Serb children from Croatia, Slovenia and Hungary in Belgrade, telling them that they had something to be proud of and that they should protect Serbian language, especially the Cyrillic script.

– Regardless of some in the region seeing the Cyrillic script as hieroglyphics, we know how perfect it is and how much it is ultimately our script – said Vučić.

He conveyed to them that they had to know the Latin script as well as their own, Cyrillic, and thanked everyone who worked to protect the Serbian language and script, and as an example, he cited that great nations like the Germans and Russians had preserved their national autochthony, autonomy, independence, by jealously guarding and defending the language and national script.

Vučić noted that there was always room, work and love for everyone in Serbia and that state borders could not and must not be a limiting factor for the cultural, linguistic and any other scopes of a nation.

He emphasized that he was happy for having the opportunity to spend some time with the children and that he knew, when he saw them in T-shirts with the image of Nikola Tesla, how proud they were that he was a scientist of Serbian origin.

Addressing the children from Dalj, Vučić said that they could be especially proud of Milutin Milanković, who was probably the most cited scientist, as well as the people of Lika and Krajina could be of Nikola Tesla.

He presented appropriate gifts to the children and wished them to feel at home in Belgrade, because wherever they lived, Serbia and Belgrade were their house whose doors would always be open.

On behalf of the children, Olivera Đukić thanked Vučić for everything he was doing for the Serbs in the region and invited him to visit the places where they lived, telling him that they would receive him with a lot of love.

During their visit to Serbia, in addition to Belgrade, 36 children aged 10 to 14 from Croatia, Hungary and Slovenia visited Novi Sad, Vrbas, Sremski Karlovci, Fruška Gora monasteries.

They participated in the Camp organized for the third time for protection of Serbian tradition, language and culture.

The camp is designed so that children learn about the history of the Serbian people, visit numerous institutions, but also see the natural beauty of Serbia and create new friendships that build some new bridges of cooperation
