The students of Nuremberg and Erlangen supplementary classes in Serbian organized by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Serbia, headed by teacher Gordana Budiša, had many extracurricular activities in July. The Vidovdan Academy was held at the very beginning of the month in the Cyril and Methodius Serbian Orthodox Church in Nuremberg. On 29 July 2023, Lopare held a Business Forum to present this municipality’s good experiences in cooperating with the diaspora and to announce new investments in the homeland by people from the diaspora. The head of Lopare, Rado Savić, says that this municipality has 20 business projects implemented by the diaspora, three business ideas have already been realized this year, and new investments were discussed at the Business Forum.
Another school year, filled with various activities until the very end, has ended in satisfaction with students’ achievements, collaboration with parents, the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia, the Serbian Orthodox Church and numerous associations. The first online meeting of students of supplementary classes in Serbian from Kranj and students of Sveti Sava Elementary School from Bijeljina was held within the Identity Serbia project. The motto of the meeting was ‘Get to know me to understand me’.
Serbs from the Republic of Srpska and Serbia are not each other’s diaspora, nor are they separated by the Drina, said the minister without portfolio in the Government of Serbia in charge of relations with the diaspora, Đorđe Milićević, and pointed to the parallel pressure on the Serbian people.
Addressing the teachers posted to Serbian-language schools abroad, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Serbia, Ivica Dačić, said that 8,000 Serbian children attended classes in Serbian in the diaspora.
