The exhibition entitled Cyrillic, the Unfadable Seal of Identity was presented in Vienna, organized jointly by the Serbian Educational and Cultural Society (SECS) Prosvjeta Austria and the Center for Serbs in the Diaspora Sveti Sava from Belgrade.

The author of the exhibition, set up this weekend in the hall of the Church of St Sava as part of the celebration of 10 years since the establishment of Prosvjeta supplementary schools in Austria, is Radmila Kunčer, the president of this Center.

The presentation also included the accompanying program Serbia through Space and Time, a display of the spiritual and material heritage of the Serbian people, authored by Verica Mihajlović, poet and publicist, announced the SECS Prosvjeta Vienna.

The opening was attended also by the Permanent Representative of Serbia to the OSCE and other international organizations in Vienna, Ambassador Žarko Obradović, who commended the exhibition and the organizers, as well as the work of Prosvjeta and its schools.

The guests were greeted by Father Đorđe Pantelić from the Church of St Sava, who conveyed the greetings and blessing of Bishop Andrej of Austria and Switzerland and emphasized the importance of such events, which are crucial for the preservation of the Serbian language and alphabet, the Orthodox faith, culture and tradition.

The exhibition was opened by the vice-president of Viennese Prosvjeta, Srđan Mijalković, founder and manager of Prosvjeta’s supplementary schools of the Serbian language in Austria.

Last weekend, the celebration of 10 years since the establishment of Prosvjeta supplementary schools in Austria included an evening dedicated to the poetry of Branko Miljković held in the hall of the Church of the Resurrection of Christ in Vienna, presentation of the book Zvezda nad prazninom (Star above the Emptiness) by Dejan Stoiljković and screening of the documentary film Branko about this great poet.

These events were held under the auspices of the Office of the minister without portfolio in charge of coordinating activities and measures in the field of relations between the Republic of Serbia and the diaspora, and they were a kind of introduction to the central celebration of Prosvjeta’s jubilee – a ceremonial academy marking the 10th anniversary of the existence of Serbian schools to be held on Saturday, 30 September, in Albert Hall in Vienna starting at 19:00.

The guest of honor will be Arnaud Gouillon, director of the Directorate for Cooperation with the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region, who, together with Mijalković, will officially open 10 new Prosvjeta’s schools that were founded this year.
