A monument dedicated to all generations of Serbs who have preserved Serbian heritage and tradition in Canada for more than a hundred years was unveiled in Toronto, Canada. The monument to Serbian immigrants is also a symbol of shared life and excellent cooperation between the Serbian Orthodox Eparchy of Canada, the Consulate General of the Republic of Serbia in Toronto, as a state institution of the Republic of Serbia, and the Serbian community in Canada.

The monument is located on the plateau next to the Cathedral Church of All Serbian Saints in Toronto. The unveiling took place after the liturgy. It was built with the blessing of the bishop of the eparchy of Canada, Dr. Mitrofan, and under the patronage of the Consul General of the Republic of Serbia in Toronto, Vasilije Petković, and his wife Dragana, and the church and school municipality of the Synaxis of All Serbian Saints in Mississauga.

The inscription on the monument reads: ‘This monument is dedicated to all generations of Serbs who have preserved our Serbian heritage and tradition in Canada for more than a hundred years. The first officially registered Serbian emigrant who came to Toronto in August 1903 was Sremac Herceg’.
