The Prelo singing group performed Serbian traditional and Christmas songs in downtown Melbourne on Friday, 15 December.
During an hour-long performance, the audience enjoyed a mix of our songs, and in the second part they heard Christmas carols, church, folk and traditional songs performed by the Holy Trinity Church Choir Brunswick.
Slađana Cukanić, the organizer of Prelo, said that several hundred spectators at Federation Square, where they performed, were satisfied with the recital.
By the way, this singing group’s members wore dresses specially sewn in Serbia.
– We sang Slava svevišnjem Bogu, Oj badnjače, badnjače, Božić blagi dan, Spasi božje ljude svoje, etc. We wanted to explain the songs and cultural context, for people to understand what we are singing – explained Sava Đukić, Holy Trinity choirmaster.
