Today, at the end of a two-day official visit to France, Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikola Selaković met in Paris with representatives of the Serbian diaspora and discussed the position of Serbs in that country and the need for associations to work together to nurture their identity while promoting Serbia and Serbian culture.

At the meeting, Minister Selaković pointed out the importance of deepening the ties between Serbia and France and the role that the diaspora can play in that process, if it acts more concretely and coherently.

According to him, for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, but also for our diaspora in France, it is very important that by the end of this year we will have a new director of the Cultural Center in Paris, where we will promote Serbia and its culture in the future through richer and more meaningful programs.

It is estimated that about 200,000 members of the Serbian diaspora live throughout France, mainly in Paris, but also in the south of France in the area of Lyon.

Today’s meeting in Paris was attended, among others, by representatives of the Union of Serbs in France, the Assembly of the Diaspora of Serbs of Southern France, the association Šumadija-Sens and many other cultural, artistic and emigrant associations.
