During the period from 9 to 12 November, journalists from the diaspora, the region and Serbia gathered at the Bridges to Homeland media camp, organized by the office of the Minister without portfolio for the coordination of activities and measures in the field of relations between the Republic of Serbia and the diaspora. The camp was held at Srebrno Jezero and in Belgrade.
The purpose of this event was to establish connections, exchange knowledge and experience, and create the basis for future partnerships among journalists.
The participants, representatives of Serbian media from the Republic of Srpska, Hungary, Romania, Macedonia, Austria and Slovenia, contributed to the diversity and wealth of perspectives from the diaspora and the region.
On the first day, journalists visited the media company Wireless Media Group, the portals Mondo, Euractiv and had the opportunity to take a peek at the work of the Serbian National Assembly.
A workshop on the importance of informing the diaspora about Serbia and Serbia about the diaspora, held on Srebrno Jezero, was particularly interesting, as was the presentation of the show Večeras zajedno, authored and presented by Ružica Zorkić Radičević, which has been broadcast on Radio Belgrade First Program for 43 years, and is intended to inform Serbs around the world.
In addition, journalists had the opportunity to learn more about the new RTS media service – the RTS Zvuk application. Free for iOS and Android devices, it offers the possibility of listening to all Radio Belgrade programs, music themed channels and studio recordings.
Within educational workshop, Professor Bojana S. Ognjanović stressed the importance of protecting and preserving the Serbian language in the media.
The participants also visited the Tumane monastery.
The camp culminated with the ceremonial opening of the Serbia Is Calling You sports camp for diaspora children in Sports Hall on Srebrno Jezero, where the participants together with Minister Đorđe Milićević provided support to the young generations.
With this event, the Serbian Government bolsters its commitment to maintaining strong ties with the diaspora and strengthening cooperation between Serbian media from different parts of Europe and the world.
