Đorđe Milićević, Minister without Portfolio in the caretaker Government of the Republic of Serbia responsible for monitoring the situation, proposing measures, and participating in the coordination of activities in the field of relations with the diaspora, said yesterday in Bileća that preserving culture and tradition was a shared obligation for all those wishing to see the Serbian national identity preserved and passed on to future generations.
During his visit to the Vladimir Gaćinović City Cultural and Artistic Society, Milićević spoke with members of the association whose work and enthusiasm preserve Serbian culture, tradition, and customs.
He highlighted the importance of engaging in dialogue with young people as well as with long-standing members of this cultural and artistic society, noting their sincere dedication to and love for their motherland.
According to him, it is such individuals that demonstrate that tradition is preserved not merely through words, but above all through acting, gathering, and passing the values from one generation on to the next.
The Minister added that cultural and artistic societies were far more than just venues for song and dance since they brought people together, connected generations, and were vital for preserving language, culture, and national identity. As long as we have young people who want to learn, sing, dance, and preserve what their ancestors left them, we have reason to believe that our tradition will live on in the years to come, he concluded.
