An exhibition of works by academic painter Natalija Cimeša and photographer Dejan Čabrilo opened at the Steiner Gallery in Vienna, as part of the Days of Semberija in Austria event. The exhibition will remain open until 10 October 2026. Mladen Filipović, Head of the Republic of Srpska Representative Office in Austria, and Siniša Bencun, BiH Ambassador to Austria, spoke at the opening, expressing their great pleasure that art could be used to bring Semberija and its cultural richness closer to the Austrian public.
Semberija Days in Austria included a promotional event and tasting of products from this region held at the Krajina&Herzeg House premises in Vienna, featuring presentations by the Legat and Epoha distilleries, among others. Initiative was also discussed to establish a dedicated Semberija corner within this space, in order to make Semberija products available to customers in Vienna and Austria.
The Srbadija Serbian Choral Society from Bijeljina performed at two locations in Vienna; the concerts were organized as part of the Days of Semberija in Austria event. Srbadija had a concert of sacred music in the setting of Peterskirche in the very heart of Vienna, and the choir was led by conductor Jelena Trakilović, PhD. The Srbadija SCS, one of Semberija’s most recognizable cultural symbols, performed also that evening at the Altes Rathaus, where a large number of our fellow citizens, as well as representatives of institutions and our associations from Vienna, had gathered.
A Semberija Evening was held in Tulln last evening and the program featured renowned accordion artists Đorđe Perić and Dušan Sekulić accompanied by an ensemble, and Bijeljina’s folklore tradition presented by the city’s Semberija SCAS. The program was further enriched by a performance from the evening’s host ensemble, Zavičaj CAS from Tulln. Children attending the Day Care Center and their parents were the guests of honor at Semberija Evening, and Mladen Filipović, Head of the Republic of Srpska Representation in Austria, welcomed them all on behalf of the organizers.
This year’s Semberija Days in Austria event concluded ceremoniously with a concert by top accordion virtuosos Đorđe Perić and Dušan Sekulić, held in the Minoriten Hall in Graz. The audience was delighted by the performances of the two artists, who presented a diverse repertoire ranging from classical waltzes and traditional and international standards to arrangements of popular songs.
The event, aimed at presenting the rich culture, traditions, and economic potential of the Semberija region, drew large audiences to programs held in Vienna, Tulln, and Graz. The event was organized by the Republic of Srpska Representation in Austria, the Embassy of BiH in the Republic of Austria, and the Bijeljina Cultural Center.
The entire program was humanitarian in nature, with proceeds designated to support the Day Care Center for Children with Developmental Disabilities in Bijeljina.
On the final evening, the hosts—Mladen Filipović, Head of the Republic of Srpska Representation in Austria, and Siniša Bencun, BiH Ambassador to the Republic of Austria—addressed the attendees, highlighting the importance of cultural exchange and support for humanitarian causes.
