The Minister of Family Care and Demography in the Government of the Republic of Serbia, Milica Đurđević Stamenkovski, attended the opening of the chess tournament Master Move – United for Serbia with participation of more than 120 children from the diaspora and the region.

It is our obligation to take care not only of the families in the motherland, but also of the families of all our people around the world, said Đurđević Stamenkovski at the event organized by the office of the minister without portfolio in charge of coordinating activities and measures in the field of relations with the diaspora, Đorđe Milićević.

Among the diaspora and the scattered are the people with great talents, knowledge, and skills, but above all, the people who love their country, and the generations growing up there have not severed their roots, said the minister.

She stated that there was a tendency of our people returning from the diaspora, and that was encouraging, but she added that this was rarely spoken about nowadays.

Namely, as she pointed out, the outflow of our population is mostly spoken about, and in recent years, we have had hundreds of families return to their homeland.

Our task is to ensure that returnee families are accepted here and given the opportunity to build their home and plan their future in Serbia, said Đurđević Stamenkovski.

According to her, today’s chess tournament with children from 16 countries participating is, among other things, the promotion of the lesson that in life, as in chess, we must plan, be patient and wise, because today these are the characteristics of our country’s overall national strategy and the demographic renewal we strive for.

Every piece is important, that is, every citizen is important for our overall society so that we can triumph in the end, the minister concluded.
