The minister without portfolio in charge of coordinating activities and measures in relations with the diaspora, Đorđe Milićević, spoke at the Marathon of Diversity event in the Romanian city of Arad, where the cultural and artistic societies of Serbs from Romania took part in the Folk Costumes Parade.
– The parade of folk costumes presents the living history of our people and it is an opportunity to show how proud we are of our roots and heritage. We are all connected by the same sense of belonging, we preserve our language, traditions, music and customs. In this way, we foster a unity that makes us stronger, that reminds us of our roots and identity. As we watch the performances by folklore societies of the Serbian people from Romania, we witness the strength and vitality of our community here – said minister Milićević.
He thanked particularly the Romanian hosts, whose hospitality made this event possible.
The Union of Serbs of Romania awarded him a special recognition Blagodarnica, as a token of gratitude for the selfless support he provides to the Serbian people in that country in preserving their national identity, and for his involvement in bringing the motherland and the diaspora closer.
In addition to Serbian folklore representatives, the event in Arad also included folklore ensembles of Romanian, Bulgarian, German, Slovak and Rusyn peoples.
