The summit entitled Meeting of the Motherland and the Diaspora, Serbs in the Region and Friends of Serbia was held at the Novi Sad Fair and Vojvodina Chamber of Commerce.
The summit aims to build a modern, organized, developed and patriotic state, said the provincial government.
The recipient of the charter and letter of appreciation, and one of the patrons of the event, the Provincial Secretary for Economy and Tourism, Nenad Ivanišević, said that connecting with the roots of the people from this area was very important for preserving tradition, culture, specificities and everything that made us one nation.
‘Today’s meeting is a meeting of friends, a meeting of brothers who discuss the same topics. There is no them and us – we are one. The idea is to get to know each other better, to see investment opportunities on both sides, he said.
The Provincial Secretariat for Economy and Tourism will propose to the organizers and participants to enable student internship with our compatriots living and working abroad.
‘The idea is that young future experts have a place to gain knowledge and experience in the best companies run by our people in the diaspora, in order to apply it in Serbia,’ said Ivanišević, adding that the greatest link between the motherland and the diaspora lay in love for Serbia.
The gathering was organized by the association Koreni, and with the support of the Provincial Secretariat for Economy and Tourism, the City of Novi Sad, the Provincial Fund for Refugees, Displaced Persons and for Cooperation with Serbs in the Region.
