Serbian students of the St Sava parish school in Paris brought delight with a performance about Mihajlo Pupin, Nikola Tesla, Bishop Nikolaj, respect and friendly love. With the blessing of Bishop Justin, the event started with a cultural program that delighted the audience.
The children’s performances showed how these great men had preserved the spiritual map of Serbia and Orthodoxy through their deeds. The recitations depicted the devotion of Pupin and Tesla to science, but also to the preservation of Serbian cultural heritage, love for their mothers, the Serbian race and Serbian holy sites.
A special moment of the ceremony were the songs Tamo daleko, Jedna zemlja, jedan tim, Tesla, Pupin rod su moj, Pećka kandila and Ova prava srpskoj deci ostaviše slavni preci, a prvi je Sveti Sava. The program was enriched by the artists Lana LeBlanc, ballerina, Konstantin Lebedev, actor and singer, Izvor Serbian Cultural Club, David Pajović and Anton Homavo played the character of Pupin, Stefan Petrović the character of Nikola Tesla, Lazar Paunović the character of Saint Bishop Nikolaj, Snežana Todorović and Olivera Paunović the characters of Tesla and Pupin’s mothers.
With certificates of grade completion, the students received a present of books about the most important Serbian monasteries donated by the priests of the Church of St Sava.
The celebration of the end of the school year at the St Sava school was not only a marking of the successful completion, but also a reminder of the importance of preserving Serbian cultural and spiritual heritage in the hearts of youth who will carry on this tradition.
