On Wednesday, 6 December 2023 at noon, in the ceremonial hall of the Republic of Srpska Representative Office in Serbia, Belgrade, at Bulevar despota Stefana Lazarevića 4/IV, the Head of the Republic of Srpska Representation in Serbia, Mlađen Cicović, will present Izvor literary awards for the most beautiful poem and most beautiful story about the homeland to authors whose works won the eleventh competition of the Representation and Žrnov magazine editorial board.
In response to this eleventh competition, a total of 177 poems and 51 stories came from Serbia, Srpska and the diaspora, but also from Macedonia and Bulgaria. The jury, which included last year’s recipients of this award Jelena Vujanović, Marijana Jovanović and Radoslav Vučković, selected one poem and one story for the awards.
The competition for Izvor literary award was established in 2013 with the desire to bring back smiles to the faces of refugees and it was organized by the editorial board of Žrnov magazine with the support of the Commissariat for Refugees and Displaced Persons of Serbia. Not all the stories and poems were about refugees even in the first competition, and that has remained so to this day. The Republic of Srpska Representation in Serbia and Žrnov magazine have been organizing this competition together since 2014.
This year’s awards again are certificates and monetary amounts. The awarded works will be published in the next issue of Žrnov magazine.
