The President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska, Dr. Nenad Stevandić, together with the President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Serbia, Ana Brnabić, opened the fourth Republic of Serbia – Republic of Srpska Parliamentary Forum in Belgrade. President Stevandić stated that the Forum represented further strengthening of our institutional ties, as well as those other ties that are not special and parallel, but personal and direct.
‘Certainly, in the history of Serb relations in the Balkans there has never been a time with more joint cultural projects, more care by Serbia for citizens outside its borders. The Republic of Srpska is the biggest beneficiary, it has received the most schools, kindergartens, roads, sports halls,’ said Stevandić.
‘This forum was created in September 2023, when a memorandum was signed between Serbia and Srpska in Belgrade. This type of cooperation is extremely important because connecting the two parliaments is one of the highest forms of bilateral cooperation,’ said Brnabić.
The Serbia – Republic of Srpska Parliamentary Forum will request the governments of Serbia and Srpska to accelerate the implementation of the idea of building memorial centers for the victims of the NDH genocide, to be located in Belgrade and Donja Gradina, decided yesterday’s session held in Belgrade. For this purpose, the governments of Serbia and the Republic of Srpska are requested to form a joint committee for the implementation of this project.
It was also requested to finally implement the initiative to print joint textbooks of Serbia and the Republic of Srpska for the national group of subjects. These are textbooks for history, Serbian language and geography, in addition to nature and society textbooks for lower grades.
