In the 2022/23 school year, educational work in the Serbian language abroad conducted under the Special Program of Primary Education, has been expanded to cover two more countries – the Russian Federation and the Kingdom of Spain, in addition to the already covered fourteen countries: Germany, France, Italy, Greece, Belgium, Norway, Denmark, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Malta, the Republic of South Africa, Slovenia, Switzerland and Great Britain.
‘Continuous maintenance and development of the ties of each member of the Serbian nation with their home country is very important, and among the strongest and most permanent ties are those that are established and developed through the system of education of young generations. This is precisely why the Ministry of Education, in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its Directorate for Cooperation with the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region, strives to continuously expand the educational work in Serbian abroad’’, said the Minister of Education, Branko Ružić.
At the request of the Serbian community in Moscow and proposal of the Embassy of the Republic of Serbia in Moscow, starting from the 2022/23 school year, the St George school in Moscow has been included in the educational work in Serbian abroad, which is part of the educational system in the Republic of Serbia.
The Serbian community in the Kingdom of Spain also expressed great interest in continuous organization of educational work in Serbian, and starting from this school year, educational work in Serbian is organized in the Kingdom of Spain, as part of the educational system of the Republic of Serbia.
