On Friday, 16 January 2026, the 13th Prosvjeta Serbian New Year’s Concert was held in the municipal ceremonial hall in Vienna’s third district, marked by music, youth and high artistic quality.
Same as every year, the evening was officially opened by Prosvjeta’s Little Choir, conducted by music pedagogue Maša Matić.
After the introductory musical part, the President of the SECS Prosvjeta Austria, Marko Sarić, addressed the present welcoming the audience and distinguished guests. In his address, he recalled everything that had been done previously, emphasizing the importance of continuous work on preserving the Serbian language, culture and identity in Austria, as well as the plans and activities awaiting Prosvjeta in the coming period.
The program continued with the Serbian Academic Ensemble, which proved to be an exceptionally young, talented and artistically mature company. The powerful and emotional composition March on the Drina followed, arousing special response from the audience at the very beginning.
The Ensemble’s performance was brilliantly combined with the performance by the evening’s guest, soprano Katarina Novčić. The long-lasting applause, the full hall and the enthusiastic audience best confirmed that the concert had fully met expectations and once again showed that the SECS Prosvjeta Austria successfully combined youth and talent, creating events that remained in lasting memory and shaping the cultural scene, not only of the Viennese Serbian community, but also of the musical capital of Europe.
