The Licider Heart folklore festival, to be held from 15 to 19 August, will gather 1,200 children from 15 countries to perform in Užice, Višegrad and Zlatibor, announced the Serbian Tourism Organization.

At a press conference in Belgrade, the vice president of the Festival’s Organizing Committee, Ivana Cvetković, said that this year’s event would have a record number of participants.

According to her, the Festival is also specific for being held in parallel at three locations in two countries, making it a cross-border and international event at the same time.

The Head of the Republic of Srpska Representative Office in Serbia, Mlađen Cicović, said that Licider Heart held a special place in the work program of the Representation, which had been involved in the organization of this event from the beginning.

‘It is a project that promotes our economy and tourism potential, and exchanges our culture, traditions and customs with participants coming from all over the world. This is a project that yields long-term results, because the participants are young people who, once they grow up, will take part in creating all policies aimed at preserving our identity’, said Cicović.

The Republic of Srpska will be represented at this year’s Licider Heart by cultural and artistic societies Piskavica from Banja Luka, Foča, and Srpski soko and Bikavac from Višegrad.

The event is organized by the Association Era from Užice in cooperation with the Republic of Srpska Representation in Serbia, the cities of Užice and Višegrad, and Tourism Organization of Zlatibor.
