The Minister of European Integration and International Cooperation of the Republic of Srpska, Zlatan Klokić, underscored the importance of the financial assistance for the underdeveloped municipalities of Srpska announced by the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, as it would enable those local communities to solve some of their burning issues.

– We assume that these are the municipalities that are underdeveloped and border municipalities between the Republic of Srpska and the Federation of BiH – said Klokić.

He believes that this is a natural continuation of the cooperation and support provided by Serbian Government to the Republic of Srpska.

– The people of the Republic of Srpska are beyond grateful for this assistance, because there is almost no local self-government unit in Srpska without at least one project implemented with Serbian funding – said Klokić.

He stated that the announced visit and assistance to the Republic of Srpska indicated that for Serbia, apart from Kosovo and Metohija, the most important national issue was Srpska.

Klokić pointed out that basis for the assistance was the special and parallel relations existing between the Republic of Srpska and Serbia, which had been signed in the past period.

Serbia’s support to the Republic of Srpska has never been lacking in institutional terms, but it has never been more concrete than since Vučić and the current SNS representatives took office – said Klokić.

The President of the Republic of Srpska, Milorad Dodik, spoke on Tuesday, 31 January, with the President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, who announced that in the coming month he would visit several places in Srpska, especially poorer municipalities, for which Serbia would prepare significant financial assistance and support in infrastructure projects.

Dodik announced a joint session of the governments of Srpska and Serbia in Banja Luka in late February or early March, and a session of the Special Relations Cooperation Council.
