The film Some New Broadway, directed by Denis Bojić and produced by the Radio Television of the Republic of Srpska in cooperation with the Down Syndrome Center Banja Luka, received an award at the 19th Radiant Angel International Film Festival, which was held in Moscow this year.

Some New Broadway won the second best documentary award at the festival.

This year’s festival received 400 film submissions with 130 films from 17 countries entering the preliminary selection.

Russian cinema’s leading experts Vladimir Khotinenko, Ruslan Bankovskiy, Natalia Gugueva and Marina Kurchevskaya were on the jury of the festival.

Important events in the country’s history and culture marked the festival’s program, including the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Stalingrad and the 90th anniversary of the birth of Andrei Tarkovsky.

The patron of the festival is the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.

Some New Broadway is the first feature-length film from the region that deals with the problem of rehabilitation of persons over 18 with Down’s syndrome. The plot of the film follows six people with Down’s syndrome who are among the first to join a professional drama school in this region by overcoming numerous obstacles and breaking down the prejudices and barriers about the possibilities and abilities of persons with Down’s syndrome.

The film won numerous awards and recognitions, and was shown at festivals and special screenings around the world.
