The President of the Republic of Srpska, Želјka Cvijanović, pointed out that Srpska wanted to strengthen institutional cooperation with North Macedonia, and expressed confidence that Serbian community in this country could be a strong link for further connecting the institutions, as well as businessmen, artists, academic communities, athletes and many others.

Addressing tonight’s St. Sava Academy at the Macedonian National Theater in Skopje, Cvijanović stressed that Serbs were an indigenous people in North Macedonia, present for centuries, with a rich cultural and historical heritage.

– Medieval, as well as modern history of our people is inconceivable without Skopje, Kumanovo, without Bitola and Kajmakčalan, as evidenced by numerous monuments, beautiful churches and monasteries, but also you who are present here, who celebrate the name of Saint Sava and your national holiday with pride and dignity – said Cvijanović.

Cvijanović stated that the message sent from that place was one of peace and cooperation with all people and nations living in our region, with the desire to build together a better, more successful and happier future for coming generations.

– It is precisely peace and regional stability that we strive for, because it is a precondition for strengthening cooperation and trust between states and peoples, without which there is no sustainable development or long-term prosperity in this region – said Cvijanović at the academy on the occasion of the national holiday of Serbs in North Macedonia.

According to her, Srpska is committed to participating in regional integration processes aimed at stronger economic connections between the countries.

– The modern economy aspires to a larger market, removal of unnecessary barriers, and simpler procedures, and therefore I am convinced that stronger connections are a great opportunity for all of us and the path we should all take together because it will bring concrete benefits to our citizens and economy – said Cvijanović.

The President of Srpska said that she was done a great honor by being invited to attend the celebrations on the occasion of Savindan and national holiday of Serbs in North Macedonia.

– The essence of our modern national integration is to never do anything to the detriment of others, but to build bridges between our peoples, to celebrate together, to progress, to remember and mark together all important holidays, such as this one – said Cvijanović.

Cvijanović wished Serbian people in North Macedonia to remain strong and united on the path of preserving their identity, and to continue to build a better and more successful future, both for their country and for the entire region.

– I am glad that we are together on the very day we celebrate Saint Sava, the first Serbian archbishop, educator and great man who founded our identity with his invaluable spiritual, moral and intellectual heritage, illuminated the path of accord and national unity of the Serbian people – said Cvijanović.

She noted that saintsavaism was a symbol of Serbian identity and unity, and that therefore there was no better or more appropriate date than this for the national holiday of Serbs in North Macedonia.
