Serbian Unity Day: Salute the Flag

The state of Serbia has launched a campaign on the occasion of the Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom and National Flag, inviting the people to display and salute the flag on 15 September, on the occasion of the holiday. In the videos that appeared on social networks, academician Dušan Kovačević and actor Petar Božović, with the anthem Bože pravde (God of Justice) heard in the background, remind us of the glorious Serbian history.

15 Scholarships in Greece for Students from Srpska

The head of the Republic of Srpska Representative Office in Greece, Jelena Jovanović, and the president of City College in Thessaloniki, Yannis Ververidis, signed today a protocol on cooperation providing for 15 scholarships for students from the Republic of Srpska at City College, York University Europe Campus. Five scholarships covering 50 percent of the tuition, are provided for undergraduate studies, master studies and MBA (MasterofBusinessadministration)

Milwaukee United Serbs Win Cup from Serbia

A three-day football tournament, the popular Srbijada, which brings together Serbs from all over America, ended with victory of the United Serbs team from Milwaukee. United Serbs and Crvenka from Miami played the final match in the OPEN group, with the Milwaukee team winning 2:1. The ceremony of announcing winners and presenting the cups followed after the final match. FK Pingvini won in the 30+ group, White Eagles in the 40+ group, while FC Karadjordje from Cleveland took the cup in the 50+ group.

Cicović: Our Obligation Is to Tell Only Truth

At the forum on Deconstructing the myths about Sarajevo coexistence and Srebrenica genocide, the head of the Republic of Srpska Representative Office in Serbia, Mlađen Cicović, said that there would always be people preparing new conflicts, wars and victims by presenting and placing their lies and deceptions, but that it was an obligation of the Serbian people to tell only the truth and thus contribute to reconciliation and peace.

Patriarch Porfirije with Preschoolers and Nemanjići Trivia Quiz Participants

The Third International Competition Nemanjići ended in Kruševac team winning and elementary school pupils from Dvorovi near Bijeljina taking second place. The elementary school teams from Banja Luka and Bijeljina ranked among the top eight. Vukovar schoolchildren were best ranked competitors from the diaspora. Today, they attended the liturgy in the Temple of Saint Sava, served by Patriarch Porfirije.

Serb National Council Releases Video for Be e-Serb Campaign

Within the Don’t be just a Serb… Be an e-Serb campaign, the Serb National Council (SNV) released a video inviting Serbs in Croatia to declare themselves as Serbs without fear in an online census. The video features a man named Srbljanović, who closes the blinds and blacks out the apartment, and before opening the online census page, removes the card and battery from his mobile phone, puts on gloves and a mask, listens to the neighbors and turns on loud music, that is, does everything to disguise his national identity.

Dvorovi Schoolchildren among the Best in Nemanjići Trivia Quiz

Schoolchildren from Dvorovi near Bijeljina demonstrated enviable knowledge of history in Čačak, at the final competition of the Nemanjići International Trivia Quiz on the topic Famous Serbs, where they took second place. Among the contestants from Serbia and Republic of Srpska in this group, the Kruševac team Nemanjina družina (Nemanja’s fellowship) took first place, while the knowledge of pupils of the Radojka Lakić Elementary School from Belgrade ranked them third.

Gouillon Received Delegation of European Association of Serbian Folklore Ensembles

At the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, the director of the Directorate for Cooperation with the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region, Arnaud Gouillon, received representatives of the European Association of Serbian Folklore Ensembles who had arrived in Belgrade this weekend from Germany, France, Switzerland, Austria and Croatia. ‘Folklore ensembles functioning under the auspices of the European Association of Serbian Folklore Ensembles bring together over 80,000 children from our diaspora who are taught about the most beautiful traditions of the Serbian people and enabled to get to know each other and socialize in the Serbian language. We spoke about the possibility of organizing a central folklore festival of all folklore ensembles from Europe in Serbia in 2023. In realizing this great idea, we as the Directorate will provide maximum support and concrete help. Because Serbia should take care of those who represent it in the most beautiful way in the world!’ – said Director Gouillon. For years, the Directorate for Cooperation with the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region has been providing financial and institutional support to Serbian folklore ensembles in the region and the Diaspora.
