The multiple award-winning Accordion Orchestra from Ugljevik held a concert in Vienna, organized by the Representative Office of the Republic of Srpska in Austria.
The concert in Vienna is this office’s present to the diaspora, and similar are expected to be organized in other Austrian cities, said the Head of the Republic of Srpska Representation in Austria, Mladen Filipović.
– The energy and emotion that these young people bring into their performances delighted everyone present – said Filipović, who expressed his satisfaction for having the opportunity to organize the performance of this famous orchestra.
The concert was held in the Alberthalle hall in Vienna, and the famous orchestra from Ugljevik presented the audience with a diverse repertoire, performing well-known traditional songs, as well as domestic and foreign pop music hits in unique accordion arrangements.
The accordion orchestra of the Aleksa Šantić Elementary School consists of about thirty current and former students of this school, and it was founded more than 20 years ago. This orchestra is known to the general public for its unique performances and energy, and so far they have received many national and international awards for their work.
The orchestra is led by Slavko Nikolić, a music teacher at the Aleksa Šantić Elementary School in Ugljevik, whose pedagogical work and enthusiasm in the field of music education has been recognized and rewarded with numerous prestigious awards, including the Sveti Sava award in the field of elementary education for the 2020/2021 school year.
So far, they have had noted performances in Canada, Austria, Switzerland, France, the Czech Republic, Germany, Russia, Oman, Serbia, Montenegro, Macedonia and Slovenia.
They gained popularity by participating in the show program I Have Talent, where they made it to the finals of the competition, and with their performances they won the favor of both the jury and the public.
