The Minister of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations in the Council of Ministers, Staša Košarac, said that the authentic brands Herzegovina House and Krajina House were an example of good practice of promoting domestic primary production, which is why they were determined to ensure larger foreign trade of products of this nature, in order to further improve agricultural and rural development.
At the meeting with the Director of the Banja Luka Center for Agricultural and Rural Development, Draško Ilić, Košarac pointed out that such projects would be among the priorities of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations in the Council of Ministers when supporting organization of fairs.
He supported the efforts of the Agricultural and Rural Development Center from Banja Luka and the Agrarian Fund of the City of Trebinje to promote domestic products through Krajina House and Herzegovina House, and pointed out that the success was the result of adequate policy and long-term investing by the Government of the Republic of Srpska.
– Owing to these projects, our agricultural producers obtained a place to exhibit their products, and domestic and foreign tourists the opportunity to buy something from the indigenous and wide supply from these regions, such as cheese, honey, tea, wine, cured meat products etc. I hope that similar establishments will soon open also in other regions in the Republic of Srpska, so that we can promote Semberia cabbage, Romanija kaymak, and Rogatica potatoes within the abundant gastronomic offer – Košarac emphasized for Srna.
According to him, all competent institutions should invest additional efforts in the coming period to promote domestic production, and to create conditions for greater foreign trade and placement of products of this nature in new markets with the aim of improving agricultural and rural development.
Košarac informed his interlocutor that the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Economic Relations, in cooperation with the competent ministries of the Republic of Srpska and the Federation of BiH, was working on a new rural development strategy for the period 2021-2027, and that the laws on food and wine were in the final phase.
The Director of the Agricultural and Rural Development Center, Draško Ilić, pointed out that negotiations were underway with the competent representatives of Serbia on opening of a Krajina House and Herzegovina House in Belgrade and Novi Sad.
– Our goal is to increase processing on our farms, and products from Krajina and Herzegovina will certainly have a good turnover in Serbia – said Ilić.
He emphasized that many municipalities in the Republic of Srpska had expressed interest in opening of similar establishments.
– This trend is on the right track, so we are already negotiating the possibility of opening a Semberija house in Bijeljina, a Posavina house in Modriča, and a Romanija house in Sokolac – said Ilić.
