The RTS Diaspora Program Team, Tamara Drezgić and Vasko Vasović, visited Bavaria (Germany) at the end of January and attended the Serbian Culture Evening in that German province. In the magnificent setting of the Munich Residence, the palace of the former Bavarian kings, the many guests enjoyed a rich cultural and artistic program.
The Bavarian-Serbian Academic Forum contributes to the city image as it is made up of highly educated citizens of Serbian origin, of various professions such as engineers, lawyers, doctors etc. They spent several days in the Bavarian capital with the Forum members and their friends.
‘Since its inception, our association has been striving to offer its citizens in Munich a celebration that stands out from other cultural and artistic societies. The association as such lives off people who are fond of poetry, who are fond of beautiful things and who support our Serbian culture,’ says Darko Srijemac, Serbian-Bavarian Academic Forum management.
The members, being volunteers, state that their main goal is to bring Serbian culture, science and education closer to the Bavarian public and at the same time provide support to Serbian emigrants and their families in preserving their national identity, language, tradition and cultural heritage.
‘As the Bavarian-Serbian Academic Forum, we try to organize all our events at locations like this, such as the Consulate General of the Republic of Srpska, such as the Literaturhaus, primarily prestigious Munich locations. We want to show both the Germans and our citizens that we are a people worthy of a proud tradition and that we have something to say,’ says Srđan Matejević, Vice President of the Serbian-Bavarian Academic Forum.
