The Prime Minister of the Republic of Srpska, Savo Minić, called on Srpska’s local communities to follow the example of Šekovići and create measures for the return of the population.
– Šekovići adopted the Rulebook on granting subsidies to support the return of families providing for monthly BAM 1,500 for two years for those who return to their municipality – said Minić.
Families who decide to return to Šekovići will receive BAM 36,000, stipulates the Rulebook on granting subsidies to support the return of families to the area of the Šekovići municipality, which was adopted by the Municipal Assembly. In brief:

‘Support of BAM 1,500 per month for two years (total BAM 36,000) has been provided, and all you have to do is return to the municipality where you grew up,’ wrote Miladin Lazić, the head of the municipality, on his Facebook account. As he added, the public call will be announced soon, and implementation will begin in September. He also posted the Rulebook with his status, and it was stated that this Rulebook aimed to encourage the return of the population, strengthen the demographic structure of the municipality and support young families with children who intend to settle permanently in the municipality.
‘The following are entitled to the subsidy: families having at least one minor child, where the parents, or the parent exercising parental rights independently, are not older than 50 at the time of submitting the application, young married couples without children if the spouses are not older than 35 at the time of submitting the application; the applicant must have a valid ID card issued by the RS MoI – Šekovići Police Station at least five years before submitting the application; the family is returning from abroad or from other BiH cities and municipalities that are not located in the Birač region; the applicant and their household members intend to settle permanently in the municipality,’ reads the Rulebook. According to them, subsidies shall be granted to a maximum of four families during a budget year. ‘The subsidy to support family return to the municipality amounts to BAM 1,500 per month per family. The funds shall be disbursed over a period of 24 months, starting from the month of conclusion of a subsidy granting agreement, to the current account of the head of household. The total funds that a family can receive on this basis amount to BAM 36,000. The subsidies shall be disbursed on the condition that the beneficiary meets the requirements prescribed by this Rulebook and the subsidy agreement,’ it is stated.
