As part of the 14th humanitarian project Bringing together the children of Kosovo and Metohija and the Republic of Srpska, a ceremonial reception was held at the seat of the Government of the Republic of Srpska for 550 students, educators, and children and young people with developmental difficulties from Kosovo and Metohija. With the verses of traditional songs, the choir Kamenički biseri from Kosovska Kamenica additionally lit up the faces of everyone present at the ceremonial reception for children from Kosovo and Metohija at the Administrative Center of Srpska’s Government.
Serbs in the Republic of Srpska care for their people wherever they are, said the President of the Kosovo and Metohija Aid Committee Milorad Arlov. The President of the Committee, Milorad Arlov, said that within this project, which had been implemented since 2012, more than 10,000 Serbian children, educators and young people with developmental difficulties from Kosovo and Metohija had stayed in 34 local communities in the Republic of Srpska.
The Ministry of Education and Culture took the role of today’s host. The Minister of Education and Culture of the Republic of Srpska, Borivoje Golubović, said that the arrival of children and teachers from Kosovo and Metohija to the Republic of Srpska was not just a visit, but an opportunity to create new friendships and educational content that the children would remember for a lifetime.
President Karan and Prime Minister Minić say that this project goes beyond its humanitarian note. The President of the Republic of Srpska, Siniša Karan, said that Serbia and the Republic of Srpska had also thus to be guarantors of the preservation of the Serbian national being that had been created and born in Kosovo. – The Serbian national being is synonymous with the Serbian people’s statehood and identity – said Karan. He recalled the Declaration of the All-Serbian Assembly on the protection of national and political being and the common future of all Serbs wherever they live, being the most important document of the Serbian people in the last 100 years.
Srpska’s Prime Minister Savo Minić welcomed the students and teachers from Kosovo and Metohija, wishing them to take many beautiful memories and impressions from Srpska. – The least we can do is to be with them and support them – said Minić. He stressed that the Republic of Srpska wanted to show in every way that it stood with the Serbian people in Kosovo and Metohija, who were currently in a difficult situation. After the ceremonial reception, the children from Kosovo and Metohija visited the Alley of 12 Stars in the Mladen Stojanović Park in Banja Luka, and there are more trips, socializing and a humanitarian bazaar awaiting them before returning home.
