The first Constitution of the Republic of Srpska was adopted 29 years ago today. The Day of the Republic and the 29th anniversary of the adoption of the first Constitution of Srpska were marked by a traditional reception in Belgrade, which was organized in the form of a television show.

It was broadcast on RTRS, RTS second programme and 41 local and regional televisions in Serbia.

The President of the Republic of Srpska, Želјka Cvijanović, said that the cooperation between Srpska and Serbia was extremely important and that it was perhaps the most natural connection in the political, economic and social sense in general, and that it was pleasant to know that it was always possible to rely on Serbia. Cvijanović said that, among the entire range of specific projects and types of cooperation, special importance lay in the fact that Srpska and Serbia had been marking jointly certain significant dates of their past for several years.

– I think that this is just an additional way to get closer, but also to show how much our joint action and unity exists and functions – Cvijanović pointed out in the collage show.

The Serb member and Chairman of the Presidency of BiH, Milorad Dodik, said that the first Constitution of the Republic of Srpska was adopted at a time when there were no armed conflicts in BiH and that it reflected the political will of the Serbian people and their desire to have an independent Republic of Srpska.

- After the decision to found the Republic of Srpska, the adoption of the Constitution is the most important political and legal act that an emerging state can and should have - said Dodik tonight in the show that was broadcast on RTRS and RTS as a TV-reception on the occasion of marking the Day of the Republic of Srpska and the day of adoption of the first Constitution of Srpska.
