The traditional meeting of the people of Kozara in Belgrade held last night in the House of the Serbian Army gathered numerous admirers of the Kozara epic, representatives of the cities of Banja Luka, Novi Sad, the diaspora, the municipalities of Kozarska Dubica and Novi Grad.

– The Association of Kozarans gathers people who affirm and preserve their tradition and culture and who work to strengthen the unity of the Serbian people together with the Republic of Srpska and the diaspora, said Nebojša Drinić, expert associate for regional cooperation in the Banja Luka Mayor’s Office.

As he pointed out, the Kozarans in Belgrade are a treasure of the Serbian people wherever they live, and it is the obligation of all of us to nurture the Serbian language and script, which are guardians of the Serbian national identity.

The head of the Republic of Srpska Representative Office in Belgrade, Mlađen Cicović, also noted the importance of Kozarans’ gathering in the Serbian capital.

– The meetings of Kozarans are important for the Republic of Srpska and Serbia, which in this way strengthen cultural and spiritual ties by promoting the rich Serbian heritage and fundamental values of our people. It is good that representatives of the cities and municipalities from the Republic of Srpska and Serbia recognized that – said Cicović.

Diaspora representative Miša Ćirić believes that there should be more such events, because by remembering Kozara and preserving the past, we are investing in the future.

The host of the evening was the head of the municipality of Kozarska Dubica, Radenko Reljić, and next year the host city will be Novi Grad.

The gathering of Kozarans and guests took place in a pleasant atmosphere with traditional songs and the famous Kozara kolo.
