The minister without portfolio in the Government of the Republic of Serbia in charge of relations with the diaspora, Đorđe Milićević, held the third online working meeting via the Zoom application with representatives of Serb organizations in the region and the diaspora, which was attended by more than 200 representatives of Serb associations and organizations from all over the world.

On that occasion, Milićević summarized the results of the projects agreed at previous meetings, primarily implementation of the Vidovdan Diaspora Assembly and thematic diaspora youth summer camps in 22 cities across Serbia.

The strategic goal of the Serbian Government and the line office, according to him, is to preserve the national identity of our people abroad, so that assimilation does not impair the Serbian language, culture and religion, and for this we must work together with the organizations operating outside of Serbia.

Our relations must be two-way, because we cannot do without each other. Cooperation is key to everything, and as frequent meetings and discussions as possible lead to a stronger relationship and easier problem solving, explained the minister.

He also announced celebration of the Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom and the National Flag, which will be held also in Germany this year, in addition to Serbia and the Republic of Srpska.

This Serbian unity holiday will be celebrated as part of the Days of Serbian Culture event in Frankfurt am Main, with several thousand of our compatriots in attendance, and addresses via video messages from diaspora representatives from all over the world.

Representatives of the diaspora participating in the online meeting thanked the minister in particular for organizing the thematic youth summer camps, and expressed interest in the continuation of organization of such camps.

The President of the Union of Serbs of Romania, Ognjan Krstić, and other representatives of Serbian associations and clubs from the countries of the region and the diaspora, shared their positive impressions of these camps.
