Last evening, the President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Srpska, Nenad Stevandić, spoke in the Church of the Intercession of the Holy Mother of God in Salzburg, Austria, with representatives of the Serbian Orthodox Church and Serbian diaspora about the potentials and ways for the diaspora to contribute to connecting businesses of the Republic of Srpska and Austria.

– Our people in the diaspora are seen as the most educated, and therefore they are shown great respect in the communities they inhabit today. Our people hold high positions in medical and technical professions, and this is our advantage that we have not exploited enough thus far. Such an influence can help both the diaspora and the motherland, which will thus gain an even greater reputation in the world – said Stevandić.

He pointed out that owing to the Serbian Orthodox Church and the diaspora, not only in Austria but throughout the world, today we could proudly say that ‘the sun never sets on the Serbian people and their culture’.

– Serbian culture connects our people wherever they live, and our liturgy never stops and can be heard all over the world, in all time zones, on all continents. Our culture and faith are great and powerful and not founded on any myth, because there are few nations that have given the world as many great artists and scientists as the Serbian people – said Stevandić.

Stevandić informed the diaspora and SOC representatives about the current political and economic situation in the Republic of Srpska and said that he was pleased by the fact that Serbian diaspora supported the fraternal unity of the Republic of Srpska and Republic of Serbia.

Today, on the second day of his official visit to Austria, the President of the National Assembly will meet with the President of the Provincial Parliament of the Province of Salzburg, Brigitta Pallauf. The meeting will be held in the premises of the Salzburg Provincial Parliament, starting at 10:30.
