The formal academy, Prosvjeta Days in Stuttgart, was held in the capital of Baden-Württemberg on the occasion of four years since the establishment of the board of the Serbian Educational and Cultural Society Prosvjeta Germany. The Academy was attended by many distinguished guests, representatives of Karlsruhe Serbian Cultural Centre, Srbac Women’s Association, Heilbronn Serbian Association, Frankfurt Association of Writers Sedmica, German branch of the Humanitarian Organization Serbs for Serbs, members of this association and admirers of Prosvjeta, which celebrated 120 years since its foundation in Sarajevo last year.

After the blessing, all were welcomed by Bogdana Brezovac, the host and newly elected president of the SECS Prosvjeta Germany board. Congratulations and wishes for even more successful work were extended by Vera Sajić, Consul General of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Stuttgart, and Mićo Ćetković, Head of the Republic of Srpska Representative Office in Germany.

The academy was completed musically by the Girls’ Singing Group of Stuttgart Serbian Centre, Anica Koćić, vocal soloist, and Maja Tomašević on the flute.

Bogdana Brezovac, the new president of Stuttgart Prosvjeta, who was elected to this position in July, says that she has found a good basis for further work.

– We want Prosvjeta to progress even further. In a very short time, we managed to create this type of academy, invite high-ranking officials, and I am glad that they responded to our invitation. We presented several new projects that we want to launch with Vera Sajić, the Consul General. An important novelty is the presentation of Zmijanje embroidery, which is on the UNESCO list of protected national treasures from BiH, and it is one of the first projects we will be working on. Also, we plan to organize many literary evenings. I would like to thank Desa Burazor Aslanidu for her previous work. I am glad to see representatives of many associations and clubs from the area who want to cooperate with us. I am also glad that we had the Stuttgart SC singing group and artists of this calibre join us to grace the academy.

Vera Sajić, BiH Consul General in Stuttgart, is happy to have been part of this event.

– I am also happy that we celebrated four years of existence of Prosvjeta board in Germany, for which I am certainly extending my best wishes. It is very important that Prosvjeta lives here in Germany. In addition to working to preserve tradition, culture, our alphabet and our word among our citizens, it is very important that we present all the beautiful heritage of the Serbian people here to the people living in Germany, be they Germans or those coming and living in this country – said Vera Sajić.

At the end of the academy, Bogdana Brezovac handed out certificates of appreciation to deserving individuals and associations that have contributed to the previous work of Prosvjeta Stuttgart.
