The Serbian Educational and Cultural Society Prosvjeta Austria is proud to inform the public about its receipt of the prestigious St Sava Award for 2024, given by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Serbia. Prosvjeta was given this significant award for its exceptional contribution to the preservation of the Serbian language, culture, history and traditions in the diaspora.
The St Sava awards ceremony was held in a solemn atmosphere on 27 January 2025 at the Government of the Republic of Serbia, in the presence of the most prominent representatives of educational and cultural institutions. The St Sava Award was presented to SECS Prosvjeta by the Minister of Education of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, Ms Slavica Đukić Dejanović. On behalf of Prosvjeta, the award was received by President Marko Sarić and Treasurer Aleksandra Kovačević.
Over the years, SECS Prosvjeta Austria has become an important pillar of the Serbian community in Austria and the entire diaspora. With its many projects, cultural events, educational workshops and manifestations, Prosvjeta has created room for the preservation and nurturing of Serbian cultural heritage abroad, providing future generations with a solid foundation for preserving their identity.
The Ministry of Education’s St Sava Award is a great honor and an incentive for further work in promoting the values bequeathed by Saint Sava – the values of education, culture, spirituality and community. This recognition is not only a confirmation of Prosvjeta’s successes to date, but also an obligation to continue to work persistently on connecting the Serbian diaspora with the motherland.
We would like to thank the Ministry of Education for the trust and recognition shown, as well as all our members, friends and associates who contributed to this success with their efforts and dedication.
SECS Prosvjeta Austria will continue to work with the same ardor in the future on preserving Serbian language and culture by nurturing the values that connect and ennoble us.
