On the occasion of the Statehood Day of Serbia, the Alliance of Serbs in Styria organized the event Candlemas Encounters in the premises of the Mariahilf Hotel in Graz.

In addition to the rich cultural and artistic program, the audience was presented all organizations of the Alliance of Serbs in Styria.

The historian Dejan Segić held a lecture on the topic of Serbian Revolution – from the uprising to the constitutional Candlemas (1804-1835), and the program included participation by the church choir of the Church of Saints Cyril and Methodius Graz, Prosvjeta’s Serbian Language School Graz, cultural and artistic society Sveti Sava Graz, association Cultural Heritage and Integrity Identity Graz, association Serbs for Serbs Austria, sports club Obilić Graz, Dr Irina Karamarković, chairwoman of the Migrant Advisory Council Graz, and Robert Krotzer, integration advisor at Graz City Administration.

In addition to Mladen Filipović, head of the Republic of Srpska Representative Office in Austria, the event was also attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia in Austria, Marko Blagojević, Consul of the Republic of Serbia in Austria, Milica Vučković, Nada Knežević on behalf of the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, and members of the board of directors of the Alliance of Serbs in Austria.

‘Together with the Alliance of Serbs in Austria and all other relevant organizations and institutions, we will continue to support the projects of Serbian clubs and associations throughout Austria. It is important that we affirm together the ideas that contribute to the unity of the Serbian community in Austria,’ said Filipović.

The cultural and artistic society Vuk Karadžić from Steyr organized a folklore festival, which gathered a large number of participants from Upper Austria and representatives of clubs from all over Austria and Germany as guests.

The event was also attended by Mladen Filipović, head of the Republic of Srpska Representation in Austria, who was presented on this occasion with a certificate of appreciation for his support and long-standing successful cooperation.
