The Director of the Directorate for Cooperation with the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia, Vladimir Kokanović, officially visited Stuttgart, Federal Republic of Germany, at the invitation of the Union of Serbian Associations in Germany.

During his visit, Kokanović met with our compatriots and representatives of the many Serbian associations. The discussions dealt with improving cooperation, strengthening communication, and acting jointly on preserving the national identity and culture of the Serbian community in the Federal Republic of Germany.

‘The Directorate for Cooperation with the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region is here to support all activities of our associations that contribute to the preservation of national identity, culture and religion. Only by joining forces can we preserve our values and pass them on to younger generations,’ said Kokanović.

BiH Consul General in Stuttgart Vera Sajić spoke with the Director of the Directorate for Cooperation with the Diaspora and Serbs in the Region of the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Kokanović about cooperation with Serbian associations and the position of the diaspora.

The meeting in Stuttgart focused on projects of common interest for the two countries.

Kokanović informed Sajić about the work of the Directorate and projects that would be implemented in the coming period.

Sajić said that she told Kokanović that the Consulate had good cooperation with representatives of Serbian associations, that they frequently met and agreed on projects.

She announced that she and Kokanović would visit the Serbian Supplementary School organized by the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which was also attended by children from the Republic of Srpska.

After that, a visit to the Serbian Orthodox Church in Stuttgart will be organized, where they will meet with priests, and a meeting with Serbian associations in Baden-Württemberg is scheduled for the afternoon.

The Director also attended the ceremony marking the work of the Supplementary School of the Serbian Language in Stuttgart, where he had the opportunity to talk with teachers and students and to attend a class with our youngest students, emphasizing the importance of preserving the Serbian language as a fundamental element of cultural identity.

As part of the visit, Kokanović visited the Serbian Orthodox Church in Stuttgart – the Church of Synaxis of Serbian Saints, where he met with representatives of the church community and discussed the importance of spiritual life for preserving unity among Serbs in the diaspora.

The visit also included the Consulate General of the Republic of Serbia in Stuttgart, where Kokanović spoke with the Consul General and staff about the Consulate’s activities in providing support to our citizens and strengthening ties with the fatherland.

All these meetings and discussions contributed to deepening cooperation and strengthening ties between the Republic of Serbia and the large Serbian community living and working in the Federal Republic of Germany.
