After holding a competition with great success for the first time last year, the teaching staff of the Serbian Supplementary School in Slovenia announced a new, Easter art competition 2022. This year’s competition is titled The Most Beautiful Easter Tradition.

‘This year, we will select the most beautiful illustration of an Easter tradition in the Easter Competition Facebook group (ВАСКРШЊИ КОНКУРС), where works will be posted and available for voting from 21 to 25 April 2022. The teachers of the Serbian supplementary school will submit student works from 11 to 18 April 2022. We are looking forward to the new encounter with the children’s creative imagination!’, said the teachers of the Serbian school in Slovenia, which are organizing and conducting the competition.

Drawings by the students attending classes in Serbian within the Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development of the Republic of Serbia should contain the Paschal greeting and/or response written in Cyrillic and an illustration of one of the following motifs: Lazarus Saturday, Palm Sunday, Easter, egg painting or family Easter table.

The aim of the competition is to promote cultural heritage of the Serbian people and Cyrillic alphabet, to encourage creativity and develop awareness of their ancestry with students, and to strengthen the communion among students, their parents and teachers in the diaspora and the region.

Each student may enter only one drawing of an Easter tradition, or a group of students may enter a joint drawing. The choice of drawing technique is free. Teachers will send in scans of their students’ drawings from 11 to 18 April 2022. The following information about the student should be submitted with each work: name and surname, grade, country and place of attending supplementary classes in Serbian. The scans will be sent to the administrators of the Easter Competition group, e-mail uskrsnjikonkurs2021@gmail.com. The works received after the submission deadline will not be posted. In case of technical problems related to the submitted works, the errors should be corrected by 20 April 2022. The administrators will not allow posting of Easter tradition drawing scans containing inappropriate messages or messages of political content. Comments with such content below the posts will be deleted and the commenter’s profile will be removed from the group.

The administrators of the Easter Competition group will examine each submitted work, and then post the works only indicating the age of the author (younger, middle, older age) on the wall of the Easter Competition group on the social network Facebook by 20 April 2022. The works will be available to the public for voting from 21 to 25 April 2022.

The student’s work with the most likes will win, which makes the selection transparent for all participants. The three best-ranked works in each age group will be awarded books, and all participants will receive commendations for participation with their student booklets. The teachers organizing the competition will commend a number of works.

The results of the competition will be announced on 26 April 2022.

The competition to select the most beautiful Easter tradition drawings is organized and conducted by teachers of supplementary classes in Serbian in the Republic of Slovenia, who are also the administrators of the Easter Competition 2022 group on the social network Facebook: Draga David, Maja Anđelković Šeguljev, MA, Svetlana Todorović, Jelena Stefanović, PhD, and Maša Vukadinović. Nevena Stupar is an associate in the organization of the competition.
