The Vice Prime Minister of the Republic of Srpska, Srebrenka Golić, and the Mayor of Belgrade, Aleksandar Šapić, agreed to expand the cooperation between the Serbian capital and cities and municipalities in Srpska.
– That cooperation would take place in business, culture, sports and health and other areas. I introduced Šapić to the forms and types of cooperation that could be achieved, and also to the potentials of the Republic of Srpska – Golić said after the meeting of Republic of Srpska delegation with Šapić on the occasion of the Days of Srpska in Serbia.
Golić said that she had suggested to Šapić to propose a new form of cooperation with cities and municipalities in Srpska to the municipalities comprising the city of Belgrade.
She clarified that Šapić would propose that each of them chose a city and municipality in the Republic of Srpska with which to establish special relations.
According to her, Srpska has great potential in spiritual and health tourism, as well as significant natural resources.
She pointed out that she would initiate the idea that the governments of Serbia and Srpska allow their citizens to use tourist vouchers in both Serbia and Srpska, regardless of the place of issuance.
Šapić supported Golić’s proposals and added that he would recommend to all municipalities to find a city and municipality in Srpska with which to have special relations because, as he assessed, Serbs had to protect each other and help each other, because failing to do that, they would have no respect from others either.
– We are one nation with a border between us. We must help each other in all areas – Šapić said and noted that the city of Belgrade had intensive cooperation with Banja Luka and Istočno Sarajevo.
The Minister of European Integration and International Cooperation, Zlatan Klokić, noted that today’s meeting of the three-member delegation of the Republic of Srpska and the Mayor of Belgrade, Aleksandar Šapić, had been very successful, as it had discussed concrete forms of cooperation between Belgrade and cities and municipalities in the Republic of Srpska.
Klokić stated that at the meeting on the occasion of the Srpska Days in Serbia, Šapić had insisted on specific matters that should improve cooperation between Belgrade and cities and municipalities in Srpska.
The Head of the Republic of Srpska Representative Office in Serbia, Mlađen Cicović, said that today’s meeting of the Srpska delegation with the Mayor of Belgrade, Aleksandar Šapić, was a guarantee that Srpska and Serbia would connect even more closely.
Cicović explained that such impression came from what he had heard from Šapić that day, emphasizing that he was particularly pleased that the mayor of Belgrade had placed accent on the cooperation between the youth of the Republic of Srpska and Serbia.
The meeting was also attended by the Minister of European Integration and International Cooperation, Zlatan Klokić, and the Head of the Republic of Srpska Representation in Serbia, Mlađen Cicović.
After the press conference at the seat of the Belgrade city administration, Golić, Klokić and Cicović presented Šapić with a framed emblem of the Republic of Srpska and other appropriate gifts.
