The play Dupljaci opened officially the Serbian Drama Theater.  „Дупљаци“.

The premiere of the long-awaited play Dupljaci took place in Chicago before the packed hall of the Nikola Tesla Sports and Cultural Center Lyons. This was the first performance by the Serbian Drama Theater, a recently founded, new, third Chicago amateur theater. This play officially opened the Nikola Tesla Sports and Cultural Center in Lyons.

The four-act comedy Dupljaci was written by journalist Dragiša Kašiković in the mid-seventies in Chicago, and many years later, directed by journalist, writer and director Miodrag Jakšić and actor and director Igor Obradović.

The play is about our emigrant who comes to America from the then Yugoslavia in search of a better life, goes to Chicago and then to Alaska, and after a few years returns to his village Oštri Zub at the foot of Majevica to a welcome by relatives and neighbors.

Before the premiere, the priest of St Nikola Church, Nemanja Tešić, addressed the audience greeting the present and thanking all supporters of the idea to develop a new church property in the Lyons settlement, which, in addition to spiritual activities, is working to soon enable operation of a school and to expand cultural, sports events and activities.

Interestingly, the Serbian Drama Theater gathered people from the Serbian community.

Director, journalist and writer Miodrag Jakšić has had a long journalistic and artistic career and has made a great contribution to the Serbian diaspora in the cultural and artistic field.

According to theater management, a second performance of Dupljaci has also been planned, and invitations for visits have come from across America and Canada.
