The President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, received about 180 young athletes from Kosovo and Metohija, the Republic of Srpska, and the diaspora, who are taking part in the Serbia is calling you 2022 camp, and said on that occasion that it was important to know which nation one belonged to, regardless of their country of residence.
President Vučić said that this sports camp allowed young people to socialize, play and compete with their peers from Serbia, the diaspora and the region.
‘You had the opportunity to learn a lot from respected coaches. I would like to thank everyone who participated, especially Igor Marinković, Lazar Mladenović, Branislav Vučićević, Saša Rokvić, Andrija Mladenović. Children are here from Germany, Austria, Italy, Canada. We have children from Croatia, Banija, Kordun, Montenegro, North Macedonia. It is the fatherland that unites language and kindred, but language and script is something that must unite us wherever we live in the world. Even though we live in different countries, we always know where our roots are, where we belong’, said the president and thanked the state institutions that had supported the project, as well as the nongovernmental organizations that had organized the sports camp.
‘‘The fatherland is the collective spirit of a nation, said Jovan Dučić. It is that spirit of community that brings us together from various meridians. Our intention is that you always return to your Serbia, that you always ask yourselves what you can do for your fatherland’, said president Vučić to the young athletes and added that the state would do everything to facilitate financially the holding of the sports camp, so that they could see that they had respect and sincere love in their Serbia.
On behalf of all the young athletes, Ignjat Vujičić and Anastasija Slović offered the president a gift, as a memento of the visit and meeting – a jersey with his initials and signatures of all the participants of the Serbia is calling you 2022 camp.
