The Minister without portfolio in charge of relations with the diaspora, Đorđe Milićević, together with the President of the Municipality of Boljevac, Dr Nebojša Marjanović, opened a thematic environmental and educational camp for youth from the region and the diaspora, gathering young Serbs from seven countries.

This is one of 22 camps in cities and municipalities throughout Serbia, whose organization was funded by the Government through the Office of Minister Milićević.

‘The opening of an environmental camp for youth from our diaspora and from the region in Boljevac is another step in strengthening the ties between Serbia and our compatriots living outside its borders. As the minister in charge of relations with the diaspora, I am proud that this project is part of the strategic goal set for us by the President of the Republic of Serbia, Aleksandar Vučić, which is to strengthen the ties between the motherland and the diaspora and to create all together an environment for young people from the diaspora, once they finish schools and faculties abroad, to wish to return to their country, to use their knowledge in Serbia. I am certain that we have succeeded in this intention, because wherever I went this summer, in any camp, the children always told me that they were delighted with their stay in Serbia and that they would definitely return to the cities they had visited for the first time’, said Minister Milićević.

In his address, the Minister appealed to camp participants wherever they lived and whatever they did, to never forget where they had come from.

‘Do not forget your Serbia, do not forget our history, culture, tradition... Do not forget our Cyrillic alphabet and our Serbian language. Because if we forget that, there will be no us as a people. And you are the guardians of our identity. Remember that’, said Minister Milićević.
