The Serbian Cultural Center will open officially in Zagreb today in the presence of Croatian Minister of Culture and Media Nina Obuljen Koržinek and Serbian Foreign Minister Marko Đurić, announced the Serb National Council.
Today, after several decades, the Serbian community of Zagreb is returning to its Zagreb premises that used to house Serbian institutions - Serbian Cultural Society Prosvjeta, Serb National Council and Cultural and Information Center, says SNC.
The Serbian Cultural Center building, which was usurped in the early 1990s, is once again the property of the Serbian Cultural Society Prosvjeta, managed by SNC.
Thanks to the Serbian President and Government, initial funding was provided for administrative and legal costs and the rehabilitation and reconstruction of part of the building, while the Croatian Government provided funding for the completion of the renovation and design of the Serbian Cultural Center Zagreb.
The first floor and attic of the building in Preradovićeva Street in Zagreb house the premises of the independent Serbian weekly Novosti, Novosti portal, VIDA television and the Archive of Serbs in Croatia, and the ground floor is occupied by the Historical Hallway presenting the story of this building’s past, Serbian Cultural Society Prosvjeta Subcommittee, Gallery, club and hall.
On this occasion, the Surrealism Barbarogenius exhibition will open as part of the Serbian Culture Days in Zagreb.
