Styrian Parliament member Werner Amon organized a reception in Graz for Serbian associations and clubs of this state and Serbia and Republic of Srpska representatives in Austria.
Among others, the reception was attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to Austria Marko Blagojević, the Head of the Republic of Srpska Representative Office in Austria Mladen Filipović, and the newly appointed Serbian Honorary Consul to Styria Martin Kurschel.
Discussions during the reception covered current issues relating to the activities of the large Serbian community in Styria, and on this occasion it was noted that this Austrian state was the first to introduce the Serbian language as an independent school subject within mother tongue teaching.
Together with his associates and colleagues, Amon supported the work of the Alliance of Serbs in Austria, as well as the Alliance of Serbs in Styria and Serbian associations from Styria, expressing his belief that the cooperation would continue and work would be done to improve relations in various areas.
‘The reception was very significant for our community in Styria, but also throughout Austria. It is important that we gather regularly, cooperate and work together to strengthen our community, and as evidenced by today’s reception, it is also very important to build bridges of friendship with Austrian institutions,’ said Filipović.
