The jubilee 25th Đurđevdan Poets Gathering entitled To Jevrejska was held at the National Library of Serbia today, with participants including poets, prose writers, dramatic artists and musicians with impaired vision, as well as those without disabilities from Serbia, Republic of Srpska and Montenegro.
The goal of the event, organized by the Belgrade City Organization of the Blind, is to promote and affirm poetic creation of the people with complete or partial loss of sight, and to cooperate with artists without disabilities.
The event was attended by the Director of the Special Library for the Blind and Visually Impaired of the Republic of Srpska Želimir Radinović, poet Borka Tadić, young actors from DIS Theater Banja Luka Jelena Marković, Stefan Maksić, Ivan Petrušinski and Bojana Štrbac, as well as multi-instrumentalist from Gradiška Jovo Jerković.
The arrival and participation of artists from Srpska was supported by the Republic of Srpska Representative Office in Serbia.
- This literary poetry gathering is held in the National Library of Serbia, which is the temple of Serbian culture, and the significance of our attendance is therefore higher and we want to shed light on the creativity of people with disabilities to point out that they are an integral part of society and its wealth - said Radinović.
He noted the importance of cooperation between the Republic of Srpska and Serbia also in that area, announced the Representation of Srpska in Serbia.
- Relying on the existing agreements, primarily the Agreement on Single Serbian Cultural Space and on Special Parallel Relations, our intention is to present the culture of the Republic of Srpska in Serbia through creation of our people, and we plan to organize visits of our artists and donations of books for the visually impaired for libraries in Serbia, in cooperation with the Republic of Srpska Representation in Serbia - Radinović pointed out.
